How to get a better search result

Info.com is a very powerful search tool but you can make your searches even more effective and drill down to the results that most closely match what you are looking for by defining your search using the simple format explained below.
  • If you are searching for a NAME or specific DESCRIPTION that is more than a single word then put "" around those words. For example: "Henry Ford"

  • If you want to ensure a particular word you are searching MUST be present in the search result then put a + in front of that word (or words). Do not leave a space between the +and the word. For example: "Henry Ford" +benefactor

  • If you want to EXCLUDE a term (or terms) which you think may be commonly associated with what you are looking for put an -in front of the word (or words). Do not leave a space between the -and the word. For example: "Henry Ford" -cars -automobiles

  • These options can be used on their own or in any combination. In order to produce a list of sites concerned with the works of Henry Ford as a benefactor and excluding those focussed on his cars, your search criteria would look like this: For example: "Henry Ford" +benefactor -cars -automobiles Another example would be: "Tiger Woods" +"Phil Mickelson"
Experiment away with various combinations and you will soon get the hang of it. The more information you put into the search box the better. You will find the results list is not always perfect and may include a few items you thought should not be there because we comb 10 search engines and some of them do not have advanced search facilities. Also, the sponsored directories cannot deal with this higher level of search so the listings will contain references to all of the words in the search box and will ignore the punctuation instructions.

However, we are confident you will be pleased with the results for the vast majority of searches.
